The JDs could have been craned aboard for return to the states with no flying accomplished in transit. They were probably craned off but although I've never heard of a JD deck-run takeoff, it was done on occasion with SNBs and R3Ds (and famously with P2Vs) so it was a possibility. But how did the unpainted F9F-2s and that blue-over-gray one get there?Tailspinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17837863895661437038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4581529699221437110.post-26326494159160590992015-06-11T17:05:12.380-04:002015-06-11T17:05:12.380-04:00The Jig Dogs might be parked back out of the way.....The Jig Dogs might be parked back out of the way... Have never heard of a JD being flying off a carrier; would be interesting to research... VC-33 AD-4Ws were based at Quonset Point NAS, RI; VF-61 was at NAS Norfolk... (http://www.wings-aviation.ch/25-Navy-Sqn/VF-Squadrons/VF-061.htm); VC-62 was at NAS Jax... Perhaps VF-61 goes first, then VC-62 and lastly VC-33... Possible "TL" on F8F; code for VC-62...bigredlancerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12055108004978953911noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4581529699221437110.post-44038198455936344072015-06-11T16:33:08.643-04:002015-06-11T16:33:08.643-04:00Thanks - that was my first guess but I couldn'...Thanks - that was my first guess but I couldn't be sure.Tailspinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17837863895661437038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4581529699221437110.post-56005013339087472612015-06-11T16:30:48.793-04:002015-06-11T16:30:48.793-04:00Panthers have VF-61 patches...
